Ant at work, gathering supplies

100mm Macro lens, 5 dioptre close-up filter and flash. At this proximity and such short depths of field I had to grab a stiff length of wood from the shed to use as a steading strut just to maintain focus. Didn't notice those nipping jaws until viewing the image afterwards!

Thank you Charlotte, I forgot to mention that this was on a runner bean leaf, about 4ft (1.2m) off the ground, the ant not me.

Great details, nice composition. But I think you should reduce the highlights a bit.
The disadvantage of the close-up lenses is the shortening of the DOF. The use of extension tube-set would be better choice to increase the magnification ratio.
