Caught Unawares in The Storm!
by davidstorm
Yes, I know it's a rubbish photo but I wanted to show everyone what we got caught in yesterday on the top of a fell in the Lake District. I took 13 shots of this weather, none of them sharp because I just could not hold the camera still. The wind was absolutely ripping across us and the hail as you can see in the picture was horizontal and hitting us like bullets. Take a look at the sensitivity setting and the shutter speed - this shows how dark it was. I have never experienced anything like this in my life - we were lucky to be able to huddle together and hold fast - if we had been on a section where we were climbing we could have been in serious trouble! From left to right are: my son Daniel, my wife Nicky, my other son Ben and Shaun Wilson. Behind them and huddled out of view are Shaun's wife Jackie, Shaun's son Brandon and our Tibetan Terrier Daisy.
If you look in the Large View, you can see the hail a lot better.
