A very ripe Welsh poppy

by davidwozhere

The point of this one is mainly that it was taken with a Sigma 70-300mm at 300mm. The result is quite amazing
The day previous there was no brown around the stamens at all. Today (a day later) the petals were falling off

I love the Welsh poppy, pops up all over my garden, i also have that lens but i find it a little precocious and not as sharp as i would like, not this picture though it's lovely!

No doubt about it, it's a pig to get used to, which is why I was surprised here -- it IS on a tripod!
As to Welsh poppies, I always collect the ripe seedpods and I scatter the seeds all over the place

Nice one, David.
In the right hands these zoom lenses CAN produce good results.

Best regards

Thank you Peter. Let's change that to, "with the right selection of bad language". (It's a Sigma after all).
