Great Britain IV at Winwick

Photo Information
GWR Castle Class 5029 Nunney Castle hauls the Great Britain IV through Winwick. She went through faster than I ever expected, only managed 3 exposures and this was the best of them. Beautiful sight on a glorious sunny day in the company of Cliff-P.

Well my shot didn't come out as good as yours John but that was my fault for not setting the camera up properly!

Hi Cliff, I think the speed she came through caught us both a little off guard, I normally get off half a dozen shots and pick the best, only managed 3 this time, this was the only reasonably sharp one and needed correcting as it was tilted through leaning over the fence no doubt. Still, better luck next time with the double header.

Nice one John. I've yet to get a photo of a GWR engine out on the mainline. Do you shoot in continuous mode or single shots when you capture a train at speed?
I shoot in RAW on continuous for any action pictures such as this.

Hi David, thanks for the kind comment, I always use continuous for action shots and RAW (DNG). It would be nice to see a few LNER locos up around the North West some day, although there's no denying the GWR Castles have real character, I'm an LMS man at heart always have been really.

Lovely picture. Looks like you are a railway enthusiast!!! Are these trains on regular routes too or only chug along on some special occasions?

Cheers,
Aadil.
