Steam to Sheffield

by pgweber

Ex BR No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' accelerates away from Alfreton on 9th May 2009, with a day-trip from London to Sheffield. It was supposed to be running to Manchester recreating "The Palatine Express" but was truncated to Sheffield and given an inappropriate "Cathedrals Express" headboard.

I found a better spot as it coasted into Alfreton on the lighter side of the train. However this view highlighted the steam to a greater extent.

A fine study. Great view=point too.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thank you Andrew, for your compliment.

It is one of a few shots I have revisited with PSE as I get more proficient.

Mono was a bit more forgiving of the strong light from the right hand side of the view.
