Sunny Fall Afternoon

by GIULIO57

Picture taken on Oct. 23rd, 2012 (afternoon) using a Pentax K1000 on tripod. Kodak Film T-Max 400 ISO promptly processed same day and then scanned using an Epson Scanner 3200. Place: San Quirico d’Orcia-Tuscany-Italy. Usually I prefer to take colour pictures of this area but sunny light of that moment (with over exposed areas) suggested me to follow this path. I used BW file in Alien Skin Exposure 3 and then in CS5 so to give back a better idea of lights, shadows and middle tones at that moment. IMHO it was also important to stack foreground and background so to enhace the importance of farm and pine-trees in the lower left corner. For this reason I focused on the farm using an open F number. (F 5,6 Shutter Speed 1/500). PENTAX Lens Zoom 40-80 mm on 80 mm.

Magnificent tones in this image. There is fair amount of image noise, but in this case it does not detractfrom the overall feel which is lovely.

Thank You All for kind cmts.
To Velimir: I know that foreigners do pay a "special tax". This is embedded in costs of Hotels. i.e. Pullman do pay a ticket (about 500euro) to enter into big Italian towns(Rome, Venice, Florence).
To Mary: in Alien Skin do live special effects (ie Glow and so on). I used a glow to enhace the "almost overexposed"areas of compo.
David: noise is due to several steps before reaching "end-file". You're right "in this case it helped me" and it reminds me of analogic BW.

My thoughts as well, dreamy and expansive, the deatail is there but the viewer needs to search the image to find it which in this case is a delight

Wonderful silky and grainy texture mix with a fine eye for subject balance. Wonderful overall light ethereal/dreamy nature to this landscape. Lovely photograph.
