Making Mountains out of Moelwyns
by pgweber
Looking over it in a North-Easterly direction, these peaks are visible. The tallest pair are Moelwyn Mawr (great white hill) and Moelwyn Bach (little white hill).
Incidentally, the word bwlch means "pass" in the Welsh language and is used in many places names throughout Wales (credit wikipedia).
Thinking of our friend Andrew, I guess that bwlchmawr translates as 'great pass' and is the name of (at least) two villages in Wales (near St Davids and Llanwrtyd Wells). I don't think I will be visiting as they sound like hard work for a cyclist.
I took this in 2008 but when I was in Wales last month, I stopped again to enjoy the view.
Shot as jpg with K10D/18-55 and cropped to lose grassy foreground and emphasize the big sky.
Would it work better if it was "Moel/Hills" in the title, as I would be giving the Welsh to English translation and would preserve the well known saying too?
Does it really matter if the horizon is a little bit not level?
Thank you Nezih, for your kind comment. There are delightful photo-ops all over the place in Wales, a favourite holiday destination for me.
