Close to Pienza

Photo Information
I had bought my new Pentax lens 12-24mm a few days before. I was looking for subjects to test it, when I saw this tractor travelling in the country close to Siena. It was a beautiful day. Good and hazy warm-light. Nice colours. It was blowing a light cold wind from north(in Italy is known as Tramontana. Warm-wind from south is Scirocco); so there was no fog or blurred air in front of me. Ideal weather conditions to shoot. I did it. No use of polarizing filter. No tripod(strange!! ). I’ve underexposed a little bit (half a stop).Hand-held camera while I was walking behind tractor looking for the right sight. (Place: Pienza a beautiful small town about 30Km south of Siena. Tuscany. Italy.). See EXIF for technical values. By the way: the man on tractor is the owner of field and house. He asked me for a FOC copy of this photo. I presented it a few weeks later. There is always a story behind a photo. P.S. IMHO this is not an artistic capture but a tech. photo only..or a “clever handwriting” exercise. I’m always cruel vs my works.

It's good to see a photo from you, Giulio! You do not upload often, perhaps bec. of the cruelty you mentioned. This is a nice angle and compo, sharp and I love that farm house at the top of the hill.

It's a nice lens isn't it Giulio - I don't use mine as often as I should. There are so many photo opportunities to be had on farmland but very few of us seem to take them.
Nice one!
Paul.

Guilio you don't often upload and in opinion not often enough, but when you do its fantastic to see your work, I love this area of Italy, and this photo rally sums Italy in late summer up, the blue sky, and the fields I love the view of the house on the hill too, very lovely Giulio and thank you for the information too. Best wishes Trixie

I like the 'S' shaped composition, the wide angle perspective and the clarity of the image.
Good photo.

Beautiful photo, especially viewed large. The clarity and definition of the picture is striking, as is the composition.

Thanks for uploading a Pentax 12-24 shot pic. I’ve been vainly looking for a reliable review of this lens. It’s quite expensive a lens and some third party cheaper competitors are worth care. As for your pic,, colors seem very well rendered, at least given weather conditions described. Sharpness and detail rendering are OK too, .. it’s even from corner to corner. As for the rest I hope you’ll upload other pics to appreciate it. But, in the meantime just let me know what was the determinant factor for your choice, Giulio ?

I like farm shots, Giulio. This is a perfect use for a lens which I covet but know is hard to use successfully.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Regards,

I like sharpness of this photo and luck I had that day about good weather conditions.I like 12-24mm Pentax Lens: SUPERB. These were determinant factors of my choice to upload this photo.I hope my reply satisfies your question.Does it?At the moment of capture determinant choice was hazy light. In this cases I feel that result could be OK(don't forget my past as slide user).Colours, house, hill, tractor.....a nice area did the rest.

The colours are beautifully saturated and vivid and the lead in from the trailer to the tractor and on to the farmhouse is excellent, excellent shot maestro

Sorry friend, I've been misunderstood, .. Here I ask my question in another way, .. " why did you opt for this lens while that there is much cheaper and serious competitors ? " I just wish to know more about this lens, .. that's all, .. sorry for having insisted

Sorry! I misunderstood.I choose this lens because I know quality about Pentax.Prices: in Italy there is not much difference between competitors. Last but not least: I bought this lens inside an and traditional shop of photgraphy in Siena. I know the owner and he gave me a special price....but before to buy "keep it and test". For this reasons I bought it.I hope this reply can help you.
