Relaxing on The Couch

by davesexton

OK, so this is a twee photograph of my dog. I try not to post this type of image, but this one took me by surprise. I was messing around in the house, getting acquainted with my new Pentax K-1 and wanted to see how well the camera did at higher ISO. I thought I had set the ISO to 1600, but I had accidentally set it to 16,000. Although the camera claims to have very good high ISO performance, I normally try to avoid pushing things too far. However, this shot shows that higher settings are not entirely without their merit.

Normally, I use DxO Optics Pro v10 to develop my RAW files but it currently doesn't support the Pentax K-1. In my opinion, it is hands down better at this job than Adobe Camera Raw. Coupled with DxOs awesome (but CPU crippling!) PRIME noise reduction, I am quite certain that I could have squeezed a lot more out of this shot than I was able to do in Lightroom.

So, sorry for the twee doggy phot, but she is cute, the slpit lighting n her face is nice and the Pentax K-1 has done a nice job at an sensitivity setting I would normally not dream of using.

The captured image certainly takes your eyes to hers, a great image and I am sure the first of many from you and the K1

You can't make your point any better that this. It's quite remarkable, though the dog clearly can't understand what all the fuss is about
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

A most impressive result!
