Rainbow and Standing Stones at Calanais

by Kenty

Just after dawn on the Island of Lewis - Outer Hebrides. I had been photographing the stones against a reasonable dawn (June so it was about 4.00!)when there was a shower of rain with the sun out at the same time. And the end of the rainbow looked like it was over the stones. What Luck.

Very interesting shot, the stones almost look like Gold with the early sun light. Great catch with the rainbow

Stone circles seem to be all the rage. This is one of the most destinctive shots of Calanais that I have seen and of course the circle is a a few thousand years older than the Irish one.

As both an archaeologist and a photographer I love this photo. Just lovely. One or two dust spots on your sensor need cloning out though

Definitely one for the wall. Might also interest the tourist board too?

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I like the way you caught the light and rainbow over the stones.

As the lads have said above and I do like the combination of the light and the rainbow in the centre, gives that sort of mystique sort of feel. regards Ron
