Queen of the Universe

by morpheus71

“How intoxicating is the triumph of beauty, and how right it is to name it queen of the universe”

de Surin

Last light upon the Queen's Meadow at Dartington near Totnes in south Devon, UK. The meadow is shown here in full flood.

The watermeadow was connected to the tidal section of the River Dart before the introduction of Totnes Weir. The now silted drainage channels in existence today show the positions of the channels which in the past flooded at each high tide. Barges would moor in the channels and the tide would almost reach the foot of the Queen's Arms Inn (the building in the far distance)

Wonderful reflection - the softness looks warm and inviting, not a bit like winter !

Thank you very much Giulio I was lucky to be there with those clouds reflecting the great light and that the causeway I stood on was dry

Thank you ever so much Blaze It was the end of a family walk, so I had not taken my tripod (the tripod is not much of a welcome guest on such journeys!), so I was most pleased that the 1/4 second hand-held exposure was so sharp
