I think it works 
Looks a little like a Harris Hawk to me - what kind of eagle is it ?
p.s. any shots that show straps on birds seem to attract less comments - I knew this before I posted a few a while back but resisted the temptation to clone them out
I like the compostion dof and that the eyes are sharp

It is a Harris' Hawk! My intention was to show straps and all, this is, after all, not a shot possible on a free bird!
The photo is a statement about the bird's condition and it could be staring at me as its gaoler!
