Steam shuttle

Photo Information
One from last September when a steam shuttle service was run on the East Coast Main Line between the National Railway Museum at York and the Locomotion Museum at Shildon. A steam engine worked at each end of the train. This is Class 5 No. 45305 at the front ready to return to York from Shildon. At the other end was the GWR Hall Class loco painted maroon to appear as the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter films.

Just superb, a classic shot of the classic era of railway. I am lucky enough to see these classic Steam Engines as I live in Somerset and we have the West Somerset Railway. My eldest daughter is lucky enough to live a few minutes walk from the Donniford Platform on the Bishops Lydeard to Minehead Line.
With more patience, practice and learning, I hope one day I will be able to take beautiful photos like this.

ELR steam gala Cliff? I wouldn't mind trying to get to that. I went on spec last summer only to find it was a diesel only day after I'd driven all the way from Durham. I'll keep in touch and let you know after I've run it past the boss.
