Larry, you've basically got two shots here: the very interesting sky, and the golden cornfield.

For me there's too much "nothing" in the foreground (half the shot) whereas the superb grey clouds offer so much.

I think I would have swung the camera up a bit and concentrated on the sky.

Brian, I know what you're saying and normally I'd make much more of the sky and less of the foreground (see similar shot on this gallery) Here, though, I wanted to convey the great empty sunlit space and the dark clouds approaching, already making the trees black.
