Deltic in the snow near Ramsbottom

by sportyman531

55 022 "Royal Scots Grey" has just emerged from Nuttall tunnel with a Heywood - Rawtenstall train on Saturday 26th January 2013. With the sun having disappeared for the day I went onto the "wrong side". The snow was reflecting plenty of light around. The loco could be heard all the way from Bury. In view of the weather I walked to the location, or should I say "yomped" through shin deep snow!

When all else fails and the snow makes travelling difficult I can always get to the ELR!
Yes, the Deltics have that very distinctive sound.

Great to see a bit of modern traction. Looks lovely in the snow.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. I too would regard this as modern traction but it has acquired the status of classic traction!
