Callanish standing stones

There are a number of arrangements of neolithic standing stones in this sparsely populated area that suggest a vibrant community in the bronze age. The stones average about 10 feet tall. They are the local Lewisian gneiss which displays interesting texture and patterns.

The b&w conversion has worked well; it was very cloudy when I was there too, some years back!
