Reynisdrangar, Iceland

Photo of the Week

Photo Information
I've been reprocessing some older photos during lockdown as I haven't been able to run any overseas photography tours for the last two years due to COVID (but hope to get back to the night skies of the Canaries in June if there are no more restrictions). This is a photo of Reynisdrangar; basalt sea stacks situated near the village Vík in southern Iceland. Legend says that the stacks originated when two trolls dragged a three-masted ship to land unsuccessfully and when daylight broke they became needles of rock. This photo was taken from a secluded beach at the eastern end of the Reynisfjara black sand beach, which now is sadly inaccessible due to a massive landslide in 2019. Reynisfjara beach has seen many fatalities in recent years due to sneaker waves dragging people out to sea.

This is a well deserved POTW. I've looked at your other images on this site and am beyond impressed. This is good, but my goodness, you have so many others that are equally stunning.
Be well, stay safe.
