1+ to what everyone else has said. Curious about the reflectors. Was it luck you had them in the right place? Did you plant the grub so to speak?
Hi Martin, no secret really and no I didn't plant the grub!! With wild birds like this it really is quite difficult to pre-conceive the shot, but I did watch these birds carefully to establish where they were most likely to alight before entering the nest. This was shot under quite dense conifer trees in our garden and it was pretty dark under there. The reflectors (two of them) were positioned underneath to get some light back towards the area where the birds were landing and to reduce heavy shadows underneath. The rest was just down to patience and pre-focussing on the right spot. In five or 6 hours of waiting they only landed in the right place once and I managed to fire off 3 or 4 shots that captured them just about perfectly.
