Gloaming Aune

Photo Information
“Now fades the glimmering landscape on the sight, And all the air a solemn stillness holds, Save where the beetle wheels his droning flight, And drowsy tinklings lull the distant folds.”

Many thanks for your enthusiasm Maria I have been visiting bits of this river almost weekly this year, curious to explore its inner landscapes especially. I was quickly struck by this intriguing set of elements, shapes, hues and textures.

Sometimes I don't get so lucky with light sympathetic to my ideas, but ideas abound the more I get a little further acquainted with sections of the river and the desire to return is ensured.

"To know fully even one field or one land is a lifetime's experience. In the world of poetic experience it is depth that counts, not width. A gap in a hedge, a smooth rock surfacing a narrow lane, a view of a woody meadow, the stream at the junction of four small fields - these are as much as a man can fully experience."

Many thanks for your encouraging comment Andrew From the high moors to the coast it is a river that I remain beguiled by. There is much character in the waters, delightful old trees ensconce much of its mossy & fern festooned banks and the heady scents of wildflowers in the spring. Autumn's cloak offers a glorious quiet fanfare to this vale.

Thanks very much Malc I am easily wooed by converging flow patterns and river islands... with fiery leaves the muses had me in a spell. A dash of ambient blue sky light descending from above, remnants of the civil twilight, the rocks and rapids seemed charmingly lit against the dark deeper shaded waters. A hint of chiaroscuro maybe?

Superb once again, I like these little sections of the flow rather than the whole scene.
