Probably one of my earliest 35mm photographs. This was taken in 1964 with a Pentax S1a. The transparency was scanned about five years ago.

It is. Air forced up over the mountain cools and - not being able to hold as much moisture - clouds form. Dropping down the other side, the air warms and dries out - no cloud.

Sometimes the clouds formed in this way stack up one on top of each other in layers - like a pile of plates. These clouds are hinted at in the b&w photo of the iceberg in East Cumberland Bay.
