Early Lunch

A Zebra Spider catches a fly on a Raspberry Leaf in our back garden. If you look carefully you can see my outline in its eyes as I take the photo.

These close ups of yours with the narrow DoF is just so inspiring. Small subjects enhancing these achievements. Don't know how you do it really. I'm a point and shoot. Love the subtleties involved here.

Hi Tim, it is a crop, about 50% of the frame I would guess. It was shot with the DFA 100mm F2.8 WR macro with a short extension tube fitted to enable closer focus and greater magnification. The 'extension tube' is actually a 2x Teleconverter with the glass removed, I use this because it has the aperture contacts.

Thanks Gray, this type of shot seems to divide opinion. The wisdom with macro is to use a narrower aperture for more DOF, but I like to experiment a bit. Sometimes the narrow DOF works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure if it works on this one or not.
