Beautiful capture David. Doesn't it look gorgeous in black !
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

It's from the art deco era and borrowed its style from Bugatti racing cars. There were no diesels then. Another member of the same class (Mallard) holds the world steam speed record - and nearly came to grief in the doing of it with an overheated big end bearing.

It sure does look good in black. I never thought I'd say that but when I first saw it looking like this Carlisle earlier in the summer I was captivated. I can remember in my early train spotting days at Newcastle when all the BR Class 8 Pacifics, except the A2s, along with the A3s and GWR Kings were painted blue - short lived livery for soon afterwards they were painted dark green (GWR?) and I was gutted. An A4 in green - didn't seem right.
