Not Exactly Photogenic

by 1stEverPentax

Happened across these characters and a few mates whilst strolling round a small fishing lake looking for larger wildlife to photo. Taken at minimum focal distance of lens...circa 5'.

Not sure whether frogs or toads...any idea?

They look like toads to me, especially as it looks to be a mob handed affair! If you go back there you should see great long strings of black spawn, rather than clumps of it.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I thought probably toads rather than frogs although i'm wondering if both could have been present as there was definitely a blob of frog spawn as well.
If I get time tomorrow i'll post a few more pics from the same visit which might make things clearer to any wildlife experts on site.
