Verbascum Blitzkreig!

by prsjnb

A caterpillar of the 'Das Furher Moth' (Testiculata unum) devouring the leaf of a verbascum (mullein) plant.

Actually, as some of you will know, it is a caterpillar of the Mullein Moth (Cucullia verbasci), but I was struck by the remarkable similarity between the pattern of head markings and the facial features of a, thankfully long-vanquished, fascist dictator

Scary beautiful, though. And a very well-exposed, colourful portrait.

A great shot that gets its point across. These perishers will devastate verbascum plants. Oddly, despite the garish caterpillars, the moth itself is a dull, unremarkable little object.
