Sidmouth - Sea Salt Spray

by MikeInDevon

Today at Sidmouth, the roughish sea plus a good South Westerly wind producing a sea salt spray filled air. Looking eastwards along the Jurassic cliffs. Big tide today!

Nice picture. I think you have one leg longer than the other' as they say, a bit like me (a slight slope on the pic I think, unless I had too much alcohol last night.) but it doesn't matter - nice shot, did you race it out to the gallery - again like me lol.

Yes I think you're right. Looking back at the raw file in DxO and zooming in to the few verticals in the image (a cluster towards the LHS edge and one towards the RHS edge) I've had to rotate the image by -0.5 deg (anticlockwise) to get the best fit to the verticals. I was standing (balancing) on one of the sandstone pavement rocky bits for the shot!

I'll see if the website will allow me to edit the original post and update the image.

And thanks guys all for the comments.

Cheers
Mike

This is a marvelous shot. It has a peculiar magical quality caused no doubt by the light, which you have caught perfectly.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks David, we have visited Sidmouth many times and have never seen the sea looking so wild and disturbed. Not huge waves but like it was boiling and filling the sea air with spray and mist which the onshore wind brought up the cliffs. There were still a few brave/mad people in their wetsuits trying to surf and even one paddleboarder!

Best regards
Mike
