Botanical Gardens

Photo Information
Took this last year in Sheffield's Botanical Gardens.

K5 + DA* 16-50

May go back with Sigma 10-20 to try and keep all the water in the frame and keep a similar angle.

My PP skills aren't great, I followed a pseudo HDR technique from digital photo mag, I was also lucky with the light on that day as the sun broke through yet there was heavy cloud in front of me.

All Done in Lightroom, but I believe you could get a similar effect in elements.

Lightroom sliders starting point:

Exposure reduced by about 1/2 to 1 stop
Recovery to 100%
Fill light from 50 to 100% depending on picture
Blacks from 20 to 50
Vibrance / Contrast - increase to taste.

All worked from a RAW file and played around a bit until it looks right to me. Plus some sharpening. Doesn't work with all pictures and depends on the original exposure as to how far adjustments are made. Fill light can give some strange Halo effects that you have to watch out for.

Regards

George
