Duchess at Shap

Photo Information
This is a follow up photo to one I posted yesterday - of Duchess class loco Duchess of Sutherland, climbing towards Shap summit on the West Coast Main Line with a heritage charter train. The previous picture was a heavily cropped mono taken with a 200mm lens on the K3.
This is at 50mm on the K5 and is for Pete Weber who has taken many photos at this location

Good to see this one David, as she charges the incline. Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand-up to see this and imagine I was there.

I see the driver was playing to the gallery too by sending out some dirty black smoke for the assembled throng with you at Greenholme - it contrasts well with the misty sky.

Wonderful drama from the smoke, which is why a steam train will always bring out the romantic in you. Very nicely done.
