Yes, you're probably right Andrew. It's the old story of reproducing a view that made me smile at the time, but which when viewed on the screen is underwhelming. I tried cropping to concentrate the key features but it lost its character. I'll play a bit more, thanks for your comments

It's annoying when you get one like this.
I think the way the cloud bulges upwards over the tree draws the eye much more than one would like, to the detriment of all the drama that's going on top left. The tree itself is a highly competing element. Therefore, I would try losing the right portion containing the hedge and the gate to try and redress the balance?

I hate being critical but I'm drawn to that field gate which (if it were possible to approach) would form a great foreground element and perhaps bring other middle distance features into play. One dreams of a day like that with the light in the right direction, decent clouds and mountains...

Thanks for your added comments folks. I too liked the gate and its juxtaposition with the large shapely (lime) tree which left a dilemma ...chop off the mountains to get nearer. I don't know, I'll have to get back there and stand in a different place
