Thanks Gábor and Larry Gábor - I'll gladly post a further version, although (my ignorance) what do you mean by softer? do you mean in terms of the strength of sepia tone, or level of contrast, or overall brightness...?

This is a really strange photo Mat. In daylight I saw it a bit dark, but now in the morning lights it isn't that.
I don't know what SW do you use in PP but some of them provides many B/W effects. In them you can use color filters like in film photography. The red filter makes harder contrast with deeper black tones, the green one makes a softer image.
