Why?

Photo Information
This shot, taken with my ME Super / SMC F1.7 50mm, is just off the Roman Road on Houndkirk Moor, close to Sheffield, but I think in Derbyshire.

It is a favourite spot for walkers, mountain bikers and unfortunately 4x4s.

As if churning up the old road isn't enough, why do this?

Why? Reply: it's a Roman (Italian) road!. In Italy is the same. You can find: plastic bags, tv sets, cardboard, rubbish...condoms....Walking on those paths is the best way to take AIDS!!!It's possible to airborne every kind of disease!...even cancer!!!

It is a shame, they erode the road and some dump their rubbish like this.

I am not saying they are all like that, after all some walkers and cyclist leave rubbish too.
