'Roman' garden

Photo Information
The escavations at Fishbourne revealed evidence of root layouts indicating the design of the gardens installed when the Roman palace was built.

The gardens have been replanted as imagined and this shot shows a pergola area with grape vines.

What a lovely looking place. It's nice to hear the story behind it too.

Many thanks to you both for the comments.

This really is a fascinating place.
I'd not been there before but since our 8yr old grandsons are now into 'The Romans' we took them there as a Summer holiday treat. I'm glad they provided the 'catalyst' as we ALL enjoyed the visit.

The work that has been done is marvellous and the presentation just superb plus the staff were extremely helpful.

It was only 'discovered' by accident in the 1960's when a trench was being dug for a new water main. That explains why, as we got near the site our grandsons asked "Why did they build it in the middle of a housing estate ?"

Best regards
Peter

Fascinating story, nice shot and an innocent remark by your Grandchildren.
Kind regards Maria
