Reaching the end of the Red Road

In the 60's, these flats were the tallest structures in Europe. In less than 50 years, their purpose seems to have been served, and they are slowly being disassembled piece-by-piece. All that will be left for Glaswegians will be memories of these once proud structures.
*** UPDATE:- the long block to the LHS of the "yellow" tower block was demolished in a controlled explosion yesterday (10th June, 2012).

Some of the best views can be seen from the top of some of these flats though! My kid sister used to live on the 30th floor, and had an amazing view of the runway lights at Glasgow airport, and the Firth of Clyde too!!

I see one of them's due to be blown up soon. I might take a trip up, just to get a shot of the big moment! (and visit the family, of course!!)
