Thanks for reminding me. Now the crowds have gone I must get back down there.
After leaving the Royal Navy, my dad joined the Territorial Army and when the floods in the 1950s washed away the stones of Tarr Steps, they went back and, using A frames and sheer legs, replaced them. Not a lot of people know that...

You're welcome for the memory. There were a few people around, but then the rain started and that sorted them out! Still beautiful there whatever the weather. One of my favourite rivers. I had heard that story from my father who lives a few miles downriver (er, not about your Dad specifically ) - lovely for you to have such a connection. Sally

Very interesting to see! I think colour version works better.
