Water droplet on moss spore

by davidwozhere

This seems about as far as you can get without focus stacking. It is a Pentax A f1.7 50mm with all the glass removed (to keep control of the iris via the camera and to act as an extension tube) and a reversed Pentax M f2.8 50mm on the end of that.
I claim no credit for the idea -- See http://extreme-macro.co.uk/empty-lens for source material.

Great detail in the water droplet... Great colours... Magic depth of field... No idea even where to start with this kind of shot... Really well executed...

The DOF at that magnification is 1.5 - 2mm max. This is the same as the diameter of the droplet and that's why it would be hard to take it any further because the DOF would rapidly diminish.
(And I can't do landscapes like yours Bill )
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
