'Tick's all the boxes' for me, Andrew !
It has a 'frame', foreground interest (with shape) and the eye is drawn in to the main subject in the distance.
As a bonus there is a lot more to keep looking at as well !

Like it a lot

Best regards
Peter

Agree with Peter on this one Andrew - I was drawn in from the thumbnail and was not disappointed!

Interesting you should post this now. We shall be setting off on our annual family pilgrimage to Cornwall this time next week - staying the first week in Polperro before heading further south. I had been looking at boat trips up the Tamar to Calstock or to the NT property at Cotehele - which appears to have views of the viaduct. Do you know the area Andrew? If so - do you think a boat trip from Plymouth is worthwhile?

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, Carl, although Cornwall and Devon can get very busy in August. We can just reach east Cornwall in two hours which is my limit for a day out, so don't know the area very well. I'd imagine a boat trip to Cothele would be lovely. The quay is my favourite part of the estate but the garden is special and the house little changed over the years.

I'd recommend visiting Dartmoor while you're these: it's so close and a variety of walks can be accessed from the major roads. Belstone is a case in point.

Take lots of pictures.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Thanks Andrew - good to hear Cotehele is worth a trip as I do like to make use of my NT membership while on holiday. Belstone looks interesting but perhaps not for this trip as it is over 50 miles from Polperro and I want to try and keep the road time down and I have to remember that just because places look interesting to me - my 5 year old and 12 year old will not necessarily agree - apparently a family holiday is not just for me - bizarre concept

Cheers

In that case you'd love Saltram, Carl, which is just to the west of Plymouth. The little ones can race round the lawns and grounds all day and you can look round the brilliant house which is full of nice things and much lighter than Cothele.
Best wishes,

Andrew
