megalomania of the evil

Photo Information
Being in Nürnberg with my kids and first thing we did was visiting the info center and area of the former Reichsparteitag (annual mega event) of the NSDAP. This building is the biggest remain of a dark dark period of German History. Designed to become a hall (but never finished) big enough to host 50.000 visitors and to have a giant stage that for AH to spread out his sick theories.
Tried to make the picture in a way, that visualizes the coldness, darkness, the disrespect for human dignity of this time by using these desaturated grey colors and by getting it as deserted as possible. That the sky was also grey, was pure photographers luck.
Btw - the info center is great - not working with shocking effects but with simply presenting pure facts - was very impressive for my kids too.
(as so often with my pics - the big version works better )

Really good detail, the blocks are fantastic. Obviously the historical context is pretty chilling too. Do visitors have access to the inside too? I was thinking it would be interesting to have some shots that replicate the AoV of some of the footage of those rallies.

Hi Tim - you can step in the inner yard (where you see no granit at all but the underlaying brickstones and the info center is also build into the building - as it was never finished, it is still the raw building skeleton now hosting the museum elements like vitrines, pictures multimedia installations etc.

Nice shot, Axel. The dramatic sky, the dark colours and the moderate lights are very effective.

I think you achieved all that you set out to achieve with this one Axel. Does it need a slight rotation anti-clockwise or am I basing that just on the left hand vertical?
