Red Again

by Fletcher8

Been up in the Yorkshire Dales photographing Red Squirrels today, used some flash to help with the poor lighting conditions and weather. The additional lighting helped create some nice effects. Anyway here is one from todays outing.

Nice capture Gareth, I am quite jealous of you being able to photograph these. I'm not too sure about the flash though, I would have liked to see this with natural light.

Hi David,

I went to the same location last weekend, very simular lighting conditions, so I ended up shooting at ISO 3200 which was still problematic. Anyway, I decided to revisit this Sunday and take flash to help keep the ISO down. The location is vey dark, lots of pine trees blocking out what little daylight there was. I will post a few more later on this week taken at various settings mixing flash and ambient.

At least using the flash I will have cleaner images for print. I also learned a lot in relation to using flash with fast wildlife. I guess I will have to go back in the spring when the light improves.

You're so lucky having red squirrels to photograph. This is a super shot.
Best wishes,

Andrew
