Red Admiral

It was a surprise to see this in the garden 2 weeks ago! The eye in this image was red and didn't look right! An unsuccessful search of the internet didn't reveal the actual colour of red admiral eyes, so I assumed that it was the result of 'red eye', so cloned in some black from another part of the same image. Please enlighten me if the eye should be red.

Nice photo, Photon Not as far as i'm aware. From what i have seen, they are brown-beige, like the underside of their wings and create a hexagonal pattern. They are also hairy. Ken
