TITLE: RED or SIMPLY SHADOW/GRASS/SAND/SKY

by graysummers

TITLE: Red? Used a red filter to create that overloaded sky. Simple straight scene as I didn't know what to expect if greater inclusions were present. Therefore, it was good to check out affects on grass and sand too.

I like the dynamic range of the image, great contrast.

Also good to see someone else owning AND using a red filter. I had a hard time tracking down a Lee 100 no 25 red filter, when I was searching for one recently. There are a lot of exciting photographic techniques that are receiving marginal exposure (:! these days.

Best regards

Thankyou Bjorn.

I know what you mean re: marginal exposure. I'm afraid digital has passed me by somewhat. I may have future interest, but I doubt it to be honest. I focus energy into film and older techniques, which are intriguing. Haven't as much time nowadays to fully commit as I did a few years back, but I like to experiment when I can. I have hundreds of old 70/80's photography magazines given to me by my brother-in-law which are inspirational. I never started photography or picked up a camera with interest and sought 'what's this all about?' until early 2000's and the cult status of film/darkroom now is exciting stuff.

I really like the lighting and textures in this shot. Makes me want to look into getting a red filter. Is the sky just due to a red filter or has it had a software filter added as well?

Stan. I shoot film because photography is a hobby. I only take photos from time to time as a relaxation on walks now. I don't record family history. My brother in law is an avid history taker and provides us with future treasures. He's gone from film to digital big style and that's how I got the LX. He gave me the camera early in the new millenium.

The filter number under the enlarger lens for the print or the use of a high grade paper [4 or 5] can enhance the darkness achieved. As can enlarger exposure time/burning in the sky, etc.... Results can be replicated in photoshop I suppose.....but I only have the luxury of the enlarger option. I don't own any photoshop kit. Scans for uploads are straight forward affairs of prints on a glass bed.

Thankyou also Malc for the comment.

When you finally switch to digital I'll be standing by ready to buy your LX!! Just acquired an SL which will be put to use soon.
With or without a title it's a great shot!
