Coming from Belfast, I know exactly the sound they make. Overhead 24/7 for decades...

They do have a very distinctive sound...bit like a hairdryer on low power but with a rattle as they get closer!

Yes a rattler indeed or a 'whiner', yes that high pitched whine. I was glad to see the back of them, the sound terrorised Belfast, a bit like Tinitus. Now we have a Eurocopter but it is only out when needed and not as annoying. It comes so low sometimes and I captured the pilot with my F*300. I quite like the sound of the Eurocopter but that whiney sound will haunt me forever and many others here.

I'll watch them on David Attenborough from now on

Yeah, "whine" is more accurate than rattle...I thought of that word after i'd posted.

Glad that the situation has massively improved for you all over there...just a shame it took so long to happen.
