Purple Coneflowers

This photo was taken at the Daniel Boone Homestead in Defiance, Missouri. Coneflowers are wildflowers, and you see a good number of them in this part of the state. Bees love them, and you can see a bee on the flower farthest back in the center.

Daniel Boone was a trapper and explorer in the early days of the U.S. Stories about his exploits made him a popular folk hero.
