Another go with the Vivitar macro. It's not easy and I'm not sure I couldn't have got a better result with the 55-300 !!!

There's nothing wrong with this one Sally, I think you would have struggled to do any better with the 55-300.

I agree with David, maybe the dead center might have been a little more visible but the overall picture is just beautiful.

No need for a better result, it's so beautiful, Sally. Reminded me the poets of middle English, "Spring is icumen in," they say it for Summer, though.

This is wonderful. The little fold and the bokeh are marvelous. Great detail throughout, the second and third little bulbs look so nice This perhaps one of the nicest floral's I've seen, certainly better than any I have taken....
I am now inspired to try again

Not easy at that f stop either as you only have a very small margin for error - and you've got it spot on.
