Star Trails over the Prairie

by sugatabanerji

A stacked star trails photo shot from our campground at Badlands National Park. I set up the camera for 400 exposures roughly 30 seconds apart, but the battery ran out after 219 of them since I was unable to charge it at the campground. So this is created from those 219 shots.

Still another "Felix Culpa" --- happy accident--- because I suspect 400 exposures would have lit the earth portion too brightly????? At any rate, this is an excellent exemplar of the star trial "genre". Like.

Actually the stacking is not additive. It selects the brightest value of each pixel among all images and keeps it in the final image. But I was worried about blowing out the ground as it was a full moon night.
