Sound and fury

Photo Information
1930s express steam loco Princess Elizabeth blasts through torrential rain at Kirkby Stephen today on the climb to Ais Gill summit as it heads back south with the Cumbrian Mountain Express. I got soaked through taking this picture. Good job the K10 is weather sealed. K10+FA 70-200mm lens at 200mm. Shutter speed was 1/640th sec, not the crazy setting given in the EXIF. The train was bearing down on me at speed.

A very dramatic image David and well worth a soaking

Nice to see 6201 again, I thought it was going to be the Duchess but Peter informed me it was Lizzy made a nice change and of course we have 6233 today with the North Wales Coast Express.

Lovely shot David.

Not your usual angle at Kirkby Stephen, so was that due to the weather?

Three different shots of 'Lizzie' today, two of you got lots of clag- I feel quite left out.

And that driver hasn't got any better, has he?

Peter

This different Kirkby Stephen viewpoint was entirely due to the weather Peter. It was tossing it down so I didn't go onto the footbridge. All the photographers stayed down on the station where we could shelter till the train arrived.
Like you Cliff I was expecting the Duchess of Sutherland on this train but Lizzie was a welcome surprise. The driver didin't seem to mind the rain, he was leaning far out of his cab window.
