POST and post

by graysummers

POST!! Say the word a few times and it becomes odd. A few words can do that sometimes. Is it because it is a word with multiple meanings? Pass....whoa there's another one. PASS......Hhhmmmm.

Why Post? Because I'm posting a message. I've been on long day shifts on the ward. Got another today and not able to visit your words/photographs really. Off tomorrow so will have a good look and drool then.

Good fortune all.

Oh, I do like this, as I like some of your other recent pics (eg the moon). I don't think I'd have had the courage to place the post so close to the top left, and that would probably have made it less powerful.

IMO,although all the power in this image is the shadow and where it meets the Pole the almost Dali-like ambiance in this image can not be denied. Very strong but delicate like a draftmans' mechanical pencil. Very nice, very nice. thanks, tg

Thanks all.

A simple shot and really one I took many times in one session. This was a 'grab' negative from a bunch of 15/18 shots in a row. Haven't counted. What I mean is...they all look the same initially with subtle different exposures for experimenting and learning at the time you get a camera. You kind of look with the light box, then under the enlarger and hope to get a feel for which one of the dozen or so is right. Contact sheets sometimes give insight in which to choose, but it can be a bit of hit and miss. You can change so much with filters and papers that the choice is infinite. So to me.....this is a Post (still sounds odd!!) on a Beach that I took an age ago. I like the framing I did on this one though. Others have greater space around the subject.
