Grey Wagtail

by davidstorm

I was on a walk today down a stretch of the Chesterfield Canal, looking for photography opportunities. I knew that Grey Wagtails were resident on this stretch as I've photographed them before, but was really lucky to happen upon this female, she strangely did not fly away even though I was reasonably close (approx 20-30 feet). I found out a few minutes later she had a nest near the top of the left-hand side lock door and was able to get a few fairly close shots of her sitting on the nest.

Shot with the K-3 and DA*300 lens.

Lovely image. She stands out so well from her background yet is obviously much at home there. Sally
