Bittern running on water

by Batfink

The bird was spooked by a Marsh Harrier, flew out from the reeds, crashed down into the water and made its way back to shore. This is one of the whole sequence i have of it going back. Uncropped using the Sigma 150-500mm at 500mm.

A rare capture.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Well captured and focused, I am surprised the bittern was flushed out into the open, you would expect it to rely on it's camouflage in the reeds. The Harrier must have got really close!

Thank you, I saw the bird 3 separate occasions in the session and was amazed to see it the first time!. It was really odd for it to do this.
