Wizened

by davidstorm

One of the fantastic old Oak trees at Padley Gorge, this one is typical of the twisted and wizened shapes that have formed in these trees over the centuries they have been here.

looked at it on the big screen and super shot and composition
had you a tripod with you and if so i would also have taken a photo at f5.6 to intentionally cause bit of out of focus background to amplify the foreground shapes. just my opinion and it might not have worked anyway. Still more than liked

Hi David,

Lovely rare ancient woodland, we know of one we found by accident on the northern flank of Dartmoor.

I notice something tied to one of the trees on the rhs, there's a cord around the trunk and something red (flowers?) attached. Any ideas?

Regards
Mike

Hi Mike, yes, it looks a bit like a poppy day memorial, it wasn't labelled so I can't be sure. I thought of cloning it out, but don't generally like to do that, so there it remains!
