Duchess at Dent

Cliff-P & johnwhit have already shown pictures of Ex LMS No 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' on the 'Cumbrian Mountain Express' of 28th July. Here is my take on the subject-

The location is Dent station (the highest in England), on the Settle to Carlisle line. The line drops from here to Garsdale Head before a final assault on the summit of the line at Ais Gill. Just beyond the single storey building on the right, there is a fine view down Dent Dale to Dent village (4 miles distant).

This was the first of three steam trips on consecutive days, that I set out to photograph in Cumbria & North Yorkshire while cycle touring last weekend.

Fantastic place and photo, I have to find some old trains near me as I think it is great photo subject.
