Beautiful...I dolike the deep black shadow in foreground...useful to give and enhace sense of space and DOF

I like this and think it would work even with the foreground cropped

Thanks guys. Now. Here's the thing. I never usually crop my negs under the enlarger with a print. Unless something is so intrusive I let what the scene offered stay there. But with the inability of either darkrooming or simply neg scanning able to produce the whole of this image, I can only say that this is a compacted view of what my eye intended at the time. I can only judge what I see spacially on the neg. It kind of gives a roomier freedom. But hey....I like the light/dark opposites in this. There's something unsettling about the lurking dark presence. I like that imagery.

I have to say, for me, this shot and your gallery shows that film & print technology out performs digital when it comes to quality black and white.

Thankyou very much Russ. I have no idea about producing digital prints or what difficulties or advantages are involved. I have seen them, obviously, when visiting Art's Centre Exhibitions. And I have marvelled at their finesse and purity. But, I feel the silver stuff of film and print subsequents lends a leap to my heart and guts that digital hasn't achieved yet.

When I see a Salgado/Bailey/Brandt/Penn/etc... I've looked at those icons of photographic folklore and marvelled. It's like looking at a beautiful car from the past. I drive an old 42 year old VW T2 Bay Camper Van [Van? Bus to be correct because that's how they start before conversion] and when I look at the shapes of the VW modern T4 or T5, it does nothing for me. Maybe I'm an old romantic or maybe I just love the iconic and cult .

I like it a lot. The shadow balance is nice with a fascinating back ground!

Thanks leep, when I look at this I remember the day so well. Freezing cold. I only took two of this view because my hands were complaining. Framed them the same but allowed longer shutter speed for this one.
